Psychology Assignment Solution

The stigma of mental health problem depends upon the effect and the nature of the illness, the patient’s attitude and response towards it and their concern to reveal it to the society (Dinos, Stevens, Serfaty , Weich, & King, 2004). Most of the patients show positive attitudes about improving their mental wellbeing whereas some believe that the things that affect their mental wellbeing are out of their control and some don’t have time to look after their mental wellbeing (Public health England, 2015).  Attitudes towards mental health problems and mental wellbeing are related to a person’s own experiences, his willingness to recover and his surroundings (McCraine, 2010).

Appropriate mental health care includes the psychosocial care development, protection of human rights of mentally ill patients and better living conditions in psychiatric hospitals (Almeida & Killaspy, 2011).

Relationships in family and friends, jobs, work-life, amount and quality of sleep and finances are some of the factors that have the biggest effect on the mental wellbeing. Social coping skills and increasing the self-confidence of the patient can be of great help in the recovery of the mentally ill patients. In any case, many efforts are to be done by the government to meet its goals to extinguish the stigma associated with mental health problems, as there is a lack of mental health policies.
