What role does an Arbitrator fill? Why are they needed?

In an organization, it is important to have cordial relationships between all the representatives of union and management. The difference of opinion or fundamental between both the parties may lead to work related issues sometimes and to resolve it the management may opt for Arbitration mode. The Arbitration process mainly settles labor disputes between industrial employer and union, to surpass any situation causing legal action against each other and it’s less costly.

. They bridge the gap between both the parties, make it possible to pin down the issues without any illegal route adopted and resolve the matter in much lesser time. They are required to make the entire situation less detrimental as it reduces the risks of strikes or any legal action and is cost effective for both the parties (Redfern & Hunter, 2004).
